Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 22, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Vet Cost Atlas collects when you visit vetcostatlas.com, why we collect it, and the choices and rights you have.

Who is responsible for your data

Vet Cost Atlas is run by Robert Berneda i Gibert, an individual based in Spain, who is the data controller for this website.

Because the site is run from Spain, we follow the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Spanish data protection law. We also respect the privacy rights of visitors in the United States.

What we collect and why

  • When you browse the site. Our hosting provider’s servers automatically record technical data such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the date and time. We use it to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix errors. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
  • When you contact us. If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and your message. We use them only to reply to you. Legal basis: your request and our legitimate interest in answering it.
  • When you leave a comment. If comments are open on a post and you comment, WordPress stores your name, email address, optional website, comment, IP address and browser type to publish and moderate comments and to prevent spam.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies that are necessary for the site to work and, with your consent where the law requires it, cookies for analytics and advertising. See our Cookie Policy for details.

We don’t ask for sensitive information, and visitors don’t need an account to use the site.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

We show ads served by Google AdSense. To serve and measure these ads:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.
  • To learn more, see how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, a consent message from Google’s consent management platform appears on your first visit, and personalized ads are shown only if you agree. You can change your choice at any time with the Privacy and cookie settings link at the bottom of the page.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, for example which pages people read and how they find us. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects data such as the pages you visit, your approximate location, your device and your browser. Where the law requires it, we use it only with your consent. You can also install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Affiliate links

We don’t use affiliate links today. If we add them, this section will explain the cookies that partners set when you click one.

Who we share data with

We don’t sell your personal data for money. We share it only with service providers that help us run the site:

  • Namecheap, Inc., our web hosting and email provider, based in the United States.
  • Google (Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC), for advertising and analytics.
  • The WordPress plugins we use, which process data on our own server.

We may also disclose data when the law requires it.

International transfers

Some providers are based in the United States. When personal data from the EU is transferred there, we rely on the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep data

  • Contact messages: as long as needed to deal with your request, and no more than 12 months after that.
  • Comments: as long as the comment stays published.
  • Server logs: for a limited time set by our hosting provider for security purposes.
  • Cookies: for the periods described in our Cookie Policy.

Your rights

If you’re in the EU, the UK or a country with similar laws, you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable format. You can withdraw your consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email contact@vetcostatlas.com. If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es) or to the data protection authority where you live.

U.S. state privacy rights

Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia or another state with a consumer privacy law), you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, to ask us to delete or correct it, and to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing” or of targeted advertising. We don’t sell personal information for money. Advertising cookies may count as “sharing” or “targeted advertising” under some state laws. You can opt out of personalized ads in Google’s Ads Settings. To make a request, email contact@vetcostatlas.com. We won’t treat you differently for exercising your rights.

Children

This site is for adults. It isn’t directed to children under 13, or under 16 in the EU, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Security

Every page is served over HTTPS and we keep our software up to date. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect your data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our tools or the law change. We’ll update the date at the top, and for significant changes we’ll add a notice on the site.
